Hello people..I haven’t done a travel post in a while so there you go!! When girls getaway from their busy lives to catch up somewhere in the Carribean….
Madel Kangha, Founder of Jumpstart Africa Academy and her friends took time off their busy schedules for a Girls getaway in the Bahamas..
Their first stop is at a Marriot hotel in Orlando….
Enjoy Maggie’s recap of their exotic experience…
We set sail… Dear reader, before we proceed, it’s important for me to get a head count of the ladies. We cannot loose each other in this Wi-Fi slow zone. Irene, Britney, Sera, Madel, Bernice, Juliette, and of course Maggie.
Being at sea, our inner pirates awaken. We are ready to explore. Our cabins have been set up next to each other. They are a bit small, but who cares? We didn’t come on this cruise to spend time in the cabins. There’s so much to see, the club, lounge, pools, massage rooms, volley ball courts, auditoriums, golf courts, dinning, rooms, casino and so much more… During the day we lazied around the pools, listening to Afro beats, you know we had our own speakers. We ate… ALOT. There was food at all times. The never ending buffet. We had formal dinners at night. The ladies and I came prepared. We had an all white dinner, very well documented by accompanying pictures. The crew personnel attending to our table nightly were exceptional. Only on a cruise ship to the Bahamas do you get such VIP service. They called us by name, sang for us, danced for us and even performed magic tricks. Can someone say…. BLISS!!!
Every pirate must set foot on land to go treasure hunting….and so we did. Sir Jojo was there to greet us with our limo when we arrived in Nassau. He took us around the island. It was breathtaking & beautiful. We stopped at touristic sites and got a little history. We ended up at the beach, the water was blue and green and clear. And it beckoned to us. We learnt how to float. All of us, courtesy of our float instructor Sera. It rained on our way back to the ship, we stopped at a bar, the owner liked us, yes he said so himself …. So we threw a party right there and danced. And he beg us to spend the rest of our days with him, but Carnival Elation called to us. The following day we went to a private island. Half Moon Cay they called it. It looked and felt like paradise. You can ask Adam and Eve for confirmation. We floated, swam, drank salt and piss infused sea water, ate some more, and headed back to the ship.
We knew this bliss wouldn’t last forever and quit frankly most of us didn’t want it to. Remember we were on a cruise ship, it moved, made us dizzy and nauseous. J. Sparrow got restless. We got terribly sun burnt, stop thinking foolish thoughts. Yes! Black people do get sun burnt… ALOT!!! There, I’ve cleared that doubt for you. All in all, it was a fantastic getaway and I’ll do it again in a heartbeat if I hadn’t done it before. So, on day 5 we packed out bags, cleared out our cabins, thanked the staff and kissed carnival elation good bye. We caught a bus to the airport. Hugged one another farewell with the promise to see each other next year. Where are we going next year you ask? We’ve played around with ideas, perhaps, Ibiza , or the Cancun or back home… Who knows? We’ve got a whole year to plan. One thing we know for sure is you’ll hear about it. Maggie
..I would want to stay in the Bahamas forever..But I guess it’s back to reality…Looking forward to more of your exotic getaways ladies…Gracias!
